An article in last month's issue New England Game & FIsh recommends the best spots in Southern New England for winter bass fishing. Two of Connecticut's lakes received accolades from the editors.
Fisherman can expect to find "quality largemouth bass, yellow perch and chain pickerel at Moodus Reservoir (both the upper and lower sections) in East Haddam. Abundunt golden shiner are a great bet for bait fish, the magazine says.
While the Bantam Lake boat launch is now off limits to non-residents, ice fisherman can access the lake by trekking through the White Memorial Conservation Center in the hopes of catching trophy-class large and smallmouth bass.
