The Ice Center of Erie (ICE) at 3515 McClelland Avenue, is now closed. The facility has closed its doors due to rising repair costs and does not anticipate opening back up anytime soon.
The ICE general manager Steve Tuholski has said the rink needs a new heat system, floor repairs, a new cooling tower, and approximately 2,000 pounds of Freon to recharge its system. The estimated cost is $400,000-$500,000, too much for the owners to handle.
No new owners have been found and it isn't anticipated that anyone would again use it as a rink if it is purchased.
