Ice carvings & snow sculptures will dazzle you at Frankenmuth's Snowfest

The 23rd annual Zehnder's Snowfest in Frankenmuth, Michigan will give visitors the chance to experience larger-than-life snow and ice masterpieces created by professional snow and ice carvers from around the world starting Wednesday, January 22 through Monday, January 27 Admission is free. It is approximately a 4 hour drive from Cleveland to Frankenmuth.

Zehnder's Snowfest Host to one of the top snow sculpture events in North America, it is estimated Zehnder's Snowfest has attracted more than two million guests to the international snow and ice sculpture competitions during its 23 years. This event will also include the National Collegiate Ice Carving Championship and the High School Snow Sculpting Competition.

One of the highlights of Snowfest will be the 100 ice block creation by Greg Butanski, an award-winning certified Master Ice Sculptor and his team. The sculpture will be in the Zehnder's Restaurant parking lot on Main St. Be sure to stop by and watch as it is being created. Other ice carvings and snow sculptures will be displayed throughout the town.

Other Snowfest activities include a free petting zoo and pony rides in the Children's Play Area. Visitors can also enjoy a Putt-Putt Golf Course with a Jamaican theme and ice carving challenges to play through at each hole of the course. Cost is $2.

Snowfest will also include a children's snow sculpting event.

A Warming Tent will be provided for visitors featuring snacks, hot and cold beverages, bingo and life entertainment including a performance by the Steel Wheels Band on Friday, January 24 ($5 cover charge after 6 p.m. Children 12 and under are free). There will also be a karaoke contest and a Michigan's Favorite Apple Recipe contest.

And make sure you don't miss the huge fireworks display on Saturday, January 25 at 6:45 p.m.

On Monday, January 27, Snowfest will be hosting the 22nd annual Chef's Hot Food Competition and Tasting from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Zehnder's Restaurant. Admission is $30.

Admission to Snowfest is free but there is a small fee for some activities.

Frankenmuth, Michigan is a 4 hour drive from Cleveland and can be reached via Exit 136 on I-75.
