Prabal Gurung is the designer of the moment. From his universally praised collection for Target to his Fall 2013 show of his eponymous line (which was attended by none other than Anna Wintour in the front row!), Gurung is riding the wave of success and glory.
Just a day after his Fall 2013 show, he returns to New York Fashion Week with ICB By Prabal Gurung Fall 2013 collection. The clothes are tailored, and the colors are sophisticated - grays and black with a small dose of royal blue, bright yellow, rich burgundy and teal. Gurung plays with strong silhouettes that are severe in their nature by softening them with abstract prints, soft tubular furs and ruffled sleeves.
The waists are cinched by interesting zipper belts that curve around the body to give a more feminine feel to a rather stark skirts. There are some very fall appropriate layered looks with over sized coats and jackets, chunky knit sweaters and slim, patterned pants. But not all the pieces are ultra structured. Prabal Gurung shows the glimpses of his romantic, dreamy style with softly draped dresses with slashed sleeves and pleated A-line skirts.
Another interesting touch to the show was the wet hair of models - surely an intentional move to give a casual, unkempt vibe! But again, if you have such statement clothes, who needs a blow dryer!
