Ian Somerhalder starts work on the Vampire Diaries Season Six

Ian Somerhalder tweeted yesterday, July 17, that he started work on the ‘Vampire Diaries’ Season Six. This is promising news to all ‘Vampire Diaries’ aficionados that one way or another Damon Salvatore is still a participant in the supernatural happenings of Mystic Falls. Unless you've been living under a rock or on a deserted island you are aware of the heroic, but tragic turn of events at the finale of Season Five. A plot twist that has had fans in a state of shock and the resulting stages of grief all summer.

He wondered how he had made it to Season Six- ‘I’ll tell you how; you all are the greatest audience on the planet! Thank you for all the love and support over these years-none of this could be possible without you!’ See you at Comic-Con, then Teen Choice Awards, then Emmy Weekend, and then in my dreams. Huge love to you all! Love Ian.' At least he will be in the public eye and fans will have something to look forward to before the start of season six.

Nina Dobrev tweeted that her first day of #TVD was July 15. Her Whosay account pictured her romping around with Kat Graham #its been a long summer. Definitely both of them glad to be back on the set and we know things are happening.

Alloy Entertainment has announced that five new cast members will be added to the mix this season- Gabrielle Walsh (Sarah), Colin Ferguson (Tripp), Emily Chang (Ivy), Lyn O'Keeffe (Jodi) and Marco James (Liam).

At least we know that Ian Somerhalder is still playing Damon Salvatore and that he still goes to ‘set’. Julie Plec has stated that this is a season for starting over and optimistically in a positive way, but this is Mystic Falls. Season Six starts October 2, 2014
