In a recent interview with VOSTFR, Ian Somerhalder gives his personal insights into Damon, Kevin Williamson, and the ‘Vampire Diaries. On the subject of Damon, Ian says the he ‘understands that he is ‘deemed as bad, but it is a matter of perspective-t being bad. ..Damon is a very lonely guy and does ill intentions for righteous reasons and he feels that what he’s doing is right-it’s ok. People like that are very dangerous! Damon uses humor-we all use humor as a medicine or band aid for pain-we’re human beings. Damon uses it often- very, very often. He stated late in the interview that he ‘would hang out with Damon, but it’s a very dangerous prospect.
Ian Somerhalder has’ immense amounts of love for Kevin Williamson’ not only because of his many talents, ‘but because he fought tooth and nail for me to have this job and it probably wasn't very easy for him (laughs) He has this way of taking the angst of a teenager and layering it into real life or fantasy scenarios layered with perfect amounts of angst, fear , love and spite. I think that the reason that he has been so successful in his career is his ability to translate this specific time in life and put it on paper and transfer it onto the screen It’s very rare-it doesn't happen often he is sort of the kingpin of that genre. He knows what he’s doing. And I say it this with all humility by virtue of the fact that I have this job that I am so grateful for that he has cornered the market-he actually almost most created it and for that we love him
When asked when he thinks the ‘Vampire Diaries’ will end he admitted ‘that its’ a very good problem to have. The whole Vampire craze may fall of the map next year. You never know-that’s why you can never take it for granted’
