Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev might be broken up, but "The Vampire Diaries" stars are working hard to stay on good terms. According to a Sept. 25 report by Hollywood Life, Nina recently made a sweet gesture by reaching out to Ian to congratulate him for winning an award.
Ian was named one of this year's Condé Nast Traveler Visionaries, an annual list that honors people who are working to make the world a better place. Nina toasted her ex-boyfriend's accolade by tweeting, "VISIONARIES Award?!? Thats amazing+in such good company. Frieda Pinto,President of Mexico Etc." Ian responded by writing, "Thank you NINA-thank you for the love&support.Truly. Xo Ian."
It's great that Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are still on such good terms since they have to work together on "The Vampire Diaries," but their friendly tweets will definitely make some Nian fans miss what the couple once had. However, it doesn't look like there's any chance of a reconciliation since Nina is reportedly dating Derek Hough now. In fact, she recently congratulated the "Dancing with the Stars" pro for winning an award of his own. "@Derekhough !!!!!!!! #EMMYWINNER I cant express in 140 characters how unbelievably excited+incredibly proud I am of you. You deserve this," she tweeted about Hough's Emmy win.
It probably hurts Ian seeing his ex with another guy, so perhaps this is why Nina is trying so hard to be nice. She might even feel just a tad guilty that she's moving on from Ian so fast. But Ian isn't the only guy in a tough spot. Just think about how Derek Hough must feel about Ian and Nina—his girlfriend has to pretend that she's still in love with her ex on "The Vampire Diaries."
Since this whole situation is really awkward, do you think that Nina and Derek will last? And do you think that Nina and Ian will continue to be on good terms, or will working together prove to be too much for the former couple?
