Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev got back together to witness a very special moment. According to an Oct. 9 report by Hollywood Life, the exes reunited to watch Ian's dog Nietzsche give birth to a litter of puppies.
Even though Ian and Nina are broken up, it shouldn't be that surprising that they got back together to support Nietzsche while she gave birth. They've already been forced to spend a lot of time together on the set of "The Vampire Diaries," so the former couple has learned to get along. Nina probably became very close to Nietzsche during her relationship with Ian, so it's sweet that she cared enough about the dog to spend even more time around her ex-boyfriend.
Ian Somerhalder shared the news about Nietzsche going into labor on Instagram. "Our little Nietzsche girl is about to drop a ton of love into the world," he wrote. He also used the birth to advocate for the creation of "species-specific oral sterilization drugs for dogs and cats." As Bob Barker used to point out over and over again, the pet population in America is a really big problem. Ian remembered "The Price is Right" host's reminder and tweeted, "Nietzsche's puppies are lucky! They'll all find homes but 9,000 dogs & cats are killed in U.S. shelters each day. Please spay/neuter#adopt."
Nina Dobrev later shared an update on Nietzsche with her Twitter followers. "Birthing little Nietzsches ...Such a beautiful + equally terrifying thing to witness...The miracle of life :) #Wow," she wrote. The actress also posted a photo of the very happy-looking mom resting with her new pups.
It would be interesting to know what Derek Hough thinks about Nina spending so much time with her ex on and off the set of "The Vampire Diaries." Derek and Nina were recently photographed trying to avoid being photographed together after enjoying a night at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, so obviously things are still going great for the new couple right now. But how long will Derek Hough be able to handle the thought of Nina sharing special moments with Ian and making out with him on "The Vampire Diaries?" That's a lot of baggage for a new boyfriend to deal with.
So do you think that Nina and Derek will last, or is Nina's presence at the birth of Nietzsche's puppies proof that there's a possibility that she and Ian could get back together someday?
