Ian McKellen thinks Gandalf from the Hobbit might be asexual

Tolkien never addressed the issue of Gandalf’s sexuality. Most of the main characters in The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings get married. If they do not get married, they are described as confirmed bachelors. Even though this is the case, it causes many people to wonder about Middle Earth's best-known wizard. Ian McKellen, who took up the gray robes most recently, voiced his opinion that Gandalf was asexual. He appears in a Wall Street Journal video with Patrick Stewart.

Fans of Middle Earth know that the wizards of the world served the same purpose that angels did in our world. They were creations of the Valar. They guided the inhabitants of Middle Earth, and they followed strict guidelines regarding how interacted with the world. Because they were not created as one of the races, McKellen’s guess about Gandalf the Grey’s sexuality may be more accurate than the actor realizes

Although McKellen may be right about Gandalf's romantic interests, it does not matter. Even if Gandalf were homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual, it would not affect the plot. What he does to help his comrades is far more important than what he does or does not do in the bedroom. Fans, however, will always form their own opinions.
