Iams Home 4 the Holidays, one of the world's largest pet adoption drives, released their numbers for their 2012-13 season.
The pet adoption campaign, which is now in its 14th year, placed nearly 1.3 million pets in their forever homes between Oct. 1, 2012 and Jan. 2, 2013.
Home 4 the Holidays also donated more meals than ever before, with 5.5 million bowls of pet food going to pets in need. This surpassed their 2012-13 goal by 500,000 bowls!
The annual drive has helped more than 8.3 million pets find their forever homes.
For 2012-13, homes were found for 684,896 dogs and 553,550 cats. The pet adoption drive helped an additional 26,663 other animals (including rabbits, reptiles, horses, birds, etc.).
Consumers participated in this annual drive by purchasing specially marked pet food, participating in Iams' Digital Dish Drive on the Iams Facebook page (Facebook.com/iams), and joining the Iams Life Long Rewards program.
“We're celebrating the fact that in just three months we helped save the lives of almost 1.3 million animals,” stated Mike Arms, founder of the adoption drive and president of the Helen Woodward Animal Center.
“We're proud of the work we've done and we're especially proud of the hard work the partner organizations continue to do every day.
Take the story of Wyatt, a tiny kitten who was abandoned and found near death. Wyatt was nursed back to health by dedicated cat rescue volunteers and has since found his forever home.
Stories like these show us the importance of promoting pet adoption and how a program like Iams Home 4 the Holidays can make a huge difference in the life of a pet."
Thank you, Iams Home 4 the Holidays, for another successful life-saving season. Here's to hoping that the next season saves even more pets in need!
