“I was just a jerk” is one way John Mayer is choosing to apologize to his famous exes. The actor who is blissfully dating singer Katy Perry opened up to CBS Sunday Morning about his past Hollywood relationships and his upcoming tour plans, according to a Feb. 7 CBS News report.
“I was just a jerk,” Mayer tells host Anthony Mason when discussing the very “frank” interviews he has given on the past about his exes, including the famous 2010 Playboy interview where he referred to Jessica Simpson as “sexual napalm.” He has also made equally cringe-worthy comments about ex Jennifer Aniston.
Admitting that he has now changed, Mayer explains that in past interviews he just wanted to be liked. “It’s very liberating when you finally realize it’s impossible to make everyone like you,” he says, adding “I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction.”
After dealing with the trauma of losing his voice due to a lesion on his vocal cords and subsequent surgery, the talented musician told Mason that dealing the fallout from those “bad interviews” was a lot harder on him than not being able to sing.
During the interview, which airs Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. EST. on CBS, Mayer opens up about his current relationship with Perry and his game plan for a “comeback” after being away for two years.
