I-TURTLE Interactive Music Companion is the newest member to the popular I-DOG family and this adorable turtle is one rockin' reptile! Kids can simply place their pal in front of a speaker or plug it into the headphone jack of any hand-held music system and get ready to rock.  I-TURTLE sways its head side to side, taps its foot and moves its shell up and down as it flashes an array of colorful LEDs, all to the beat of the music.  Kids can plug their hand-held music systems directly into I-TURTLE and music will broadcast through a built-in speaker. I-TURTLE is compatible with most portable music devices (not included) and comes complete with a dual jack. Requires 3 "AAA" batteries, included. Available at most major toy retailers nationwide and on HasbroToyShop.com.

I was happy to review this cute little turtle. My kids saw it and went nuts. They wanted to play with him. I had to explain that it's a speaker and not a toy. :) I had to put it to the test though. I used the included audio cable to plug it into my iPod, and turned on some music. The sound and volume are pretty decent for play in a small room. It would serve well as an office speaker for iPod, or in your kids room. There are 2 annoyances though. The first is that there is no true off switch. So, sometimes when sitting idle the turtle will start to make noise and dance on it's own. It does seem like after 5-10 minutes there is an auto shut-off, but an off switch would be a great addition. The 2nd annoyance is the noise that the turtle makes when dancing. The music has to be quite loud to cover it up. But, kids would not care!

I made 2 videos of the I-Turtle in action. In the first the I-Turtle is being used as the speaker for my iPod. The sound is pretty good. The I-Turtle dances and flashes it's lights as it plays the music.

In the 2nd video, the I-Turtle is dancing to music being blasted by my iPhone 3Gs, which I might note is a lot louder than the I-Turtle. But it should be, it's costs a lot more. :)

Pros:
- Small & light
- Decent sound
- Great fun for kids!
- Good battery life

Cons:
 - No "Off" switch. There is only "Play" or "Try Me". It randomly plays songs and dances on it's own when idle.
- Mechanical noise is a bit distracting

The bottom line is that this is definitely a fun little speaker. Great for a child's room, or office. Great fun to watch. If you are looking for a fun, portable speaker to use with your music player, this would work out fine.

It does have an off switch. you hold is head down for a few seconds and this will shut him off. Also you can turn the animation off while listening to your ipod but i forget the sequence for that. its all stated in the directions though.....
