Rumors of a possible 140 showdown with lightweight king Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez have been circulating lately, and Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta is all for it.

Although the bout has not been confirmed, I spoke to the undefeated Gesta today to get his thoughts on the match-up possibilitly. "I think I can handle Marquez's style," said the San Diego transplant from Mandaue City, Cebu. "I want that fight. I hope that fight happens," he added.

Gesta's next fight will probably be against a different opponent at the Rios-Gamboa undercard, but it's definitely interesting how the converted southpaw would do against the ageless Marquez. His co-manager and trainer Vince Parra has not denied or confirmed discussions about a Marquez fight, but stated that Gesta is happy with what his promoter Bob Arum has lined up for him in 2012.

Gesta also told me that he's having a blast training with his father, whom he brought in with him in San Diego to help with his camp alongside Parra, and intends to just continue improving and pushing forward with his career.
