Write!

Or maybe I have?

Have you ever looked for something time and time again only to find it right in front of you?  Sometimes, I think that Christians are that way in looking for abundant life.  We look in the things of the world—houses, boats, cars, RV’s, video games, fashion, and the list continues.  What if abundant life and telling the Good News of Jesus Christ could be the same thing?

I had forgotten the passion that I had for writing over the past few years.  Perhaps emails, reports, more emails, and more reports sucked the writer’s blood out of me.  Yes, I know that’s a lame excuse.  Writers write:  no excuses.  This writer is blessed to get to write about what he loves.

This article is for all of those writers out there yet to take the plunge.  Write.

The old school for writers said buy the Writer’s Digest and start cranking out submission letters or get an agent.  This is a tough life for a writer.  We all want to write that New York Times best seller and perhaps we will, but why should we not be published along the way.  May God bless the Examiner for seeing the future of writing.

There is nothing like grabbing a great novel, a cup of coffee, and heading off to a quiet place to enjoy a great read.  Who reads that way anymore?  Most people get their reading online or in the John.  Traditional newspapers are missing the trend.  Readers of this new millennium are online readers.
So here’s the dichotomy.  Write the traditional way and hope that you land a great agent or your book is the greatest thing ever, actually gets read when you mail in the draft, and has a market for which the publisher will risk the upfront costs, or write now, publish now, get paid now.

If your passion is writing, then take the plunge into these online markets.  You think that less than a penny a pop is insulting?  If you can make your article interesting and relevant, you might get a thousand hits on it in a day.  If it gets picked up on a nation-wide feed, maybe a hundred thousand or more hits.  The penny a pop model doesn’t sound too bad in that case, and you don’t even have to roll those pennies.

Writing is part of my abundant life.  I enjoy it.  Getting paid for it, even if it’s just a few bucks isn’t so bad.  If you have wanted to try your hand at writing, there is no better time than today.

All writers know the answer to this question.  When do you write?  Answer:  every day.

Most writers don’t know the answer to this question.  When will I be published?  What if the answer to this question was also everyday!

Here are some links to my pages at other publishing sites.  Each will have some sort of link that says write for us.  Follow the link and get published.
