Between touring and being a mother, pop diva Beyonce Knowles found time to put together some new music. The release and timing of Beyonce’s fifth album came as a surprise. As PEOPLE reports on Dec. 13, Beyonce’s self-titled album was released just before mid-night on Friday right after she made the surprise announcement.
The album include collaborations with husband and hip hop megastar Jay Z, Drake and Frank Ocean and will definitely have the kind of Beyonce flavor that fans are use to. Beyonce, of course, turned to social media to give her fans an early Christmas gift.
On her Facebook page she says in a video announcement:
“I see music. It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”
The surprise release could be a good business strategy because fans will actually have to buy the album or singles in the album as it is released. Without months of promotion, the advertising comes within the music itself. Beyonce continued in her message:
“I don’t want anybody to get the message, when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”
The new album is comprised of 14 songs with the closing track being a dedication song to her daughter Blue Ivy titled “Blue”.
