It is officially summer! Instead of turning on the AC or sticking your head in the freezer to avoid the heat, why not try a double-guilt-free earth-conscious ice cream. The Sierra Club has published a list of the greenest ice cream options for this summer’s indulgences. Here are a few highlights recommended by eco-dessert connoisseurs:
- So Delicious: Certified organic, vegan and kosher, this frozen treat comes in many flavors, but Neapolitan is a great place to start. (Recommended by Patricia Greenberg, author of Soy Desserts).
- Laloo’s Goat’s Milk Ice Cream: Free of hormones, antibiotics and lactose, it has all the characteristics of the perfect ice cream: velvety silky, creamy, with an ideal balance of vanilla and that slight tang from the goat’s milk. - Ben and Jerry’s: The company’s eco-friendly norms (i.e., using non-rBGH-treated dairy cows and cage-free farm eggs) and creamy, delicious flavors make these pints delicious, affordable, and backed by sustainable responsible practices.
