Do you want to spread the good feeling you have about yarn and yarn-related crafts, especially crochet? Then I Love Yarn Day is designed for you! Started as a lark three years ago by a group of yarn enthusiasts, there will be hundreds of thousands of fiber lovers plying their hooks, needles and spindles on the second Friday in October.
Sharing our fiber passion has turned into a viral event that last year trended on Twitter. Crochet it, knit it, spin it, weave it, wear it, post it, tweet it, carry it, share it, give it or "bomb" it! And share they did, from the schoolteacher who taught her students how to crochet, to lunchtime gathering where co-workers shared their crafts, to the woman who completed a chemo cap to donate to a local hospital.
Providing inspiration is the I Love Yarn Day website, ILoveYarn.org where industry designers share their love of yarn and offer fun, free projects to help celebrate on October. 11. Here is a link to my free pattern for an I Love Yarn Day badge to wear all day and throughout the year. It is always time to celebrate our love of yarn!
Look for yarn party ideas galore!Yarn crafters are encouraged to plan fun events locally like yarn bombing evenings or yarn parties, and to pin their recipe, decorations and planned projects on the I Love Yarn Day Pinterest board. Enthusiasts are also invited to post their plans at I Love Yarn Day Plans and to post and tweet them on the I Love Yarn Day Facebook and Twitter pages.
Wear your pride; wear crochet on October 11!
