I have fallen and I CAN get up workshop Monday March 14 in San Leandro

Spectrum Community Services of Hayward’s Fall Risk Reduction Program is presenting a new, unique workshop for seniors in our community.  The workshop, entitled I have fallen and I CAN get up is being offered for the first time on Monday, March 14 at 3:30pm. The workshop will be presented at the Marina Community Center, 15301 Wicks Boulevard in San Leandro.

The Workshop

The Fall Risk Reduction Program Instructors and Program Manager will give practical advice for individuals whohave had a fall, present the steps to prevent a fall,  as well as demonstrations on getting up from a fall. Instructors will also share information on resources to keep individuals safe at home. Included will be a discussion of why participants may need a 24 hour emergency response system..

Bay Area Vital Link
will offer information and answer questions about their emergency response systems and products.

Spectrum Community Services - Profile of Senior Services

Spectrum Community Services works to provide low-income and elderly residents in Alameda County with services that they might need in order to remain living in their own homes, improve self-sufficiency and the quality of life.  Services available to area seniors include:

  • Meals and Nutrition - Community dining, Meals on Wheels for individuals over 60 and Friday night fellowship dinners for all ages are among their offerings. Spectrum also provides meals for Adult Day Care programs and individuals with HIV.
  • Fall Risk Reduction Program - provides a variety of services including educational opportunities on medication management, falls prevention, physical exercise and skills building and home modification referrals.  Free assessments and classes are presented year round for residents of Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, or Union City.
  • Senior Information and Referral - provides a phone-in-service which familiarizes seniors with programs and services available to the elderly.
