People have stopped me and asked what they are to do now that the Fort Worth Stock Show has passed. They went and got new boots, a new hat or had the one from last year re-shaped a new pearl snapped shirt and even some new jeans. Some have even travelled to San Antonio and Houston and as far as San Angelo to continue to enjoy the rodeo life and spirit.
But don’t put those western duds in the closet, get them out and wear them. There are very few places in Fort Worth where such clothes are not appropriate. Plus, if you feel that a rodeo is the only place for such things then don them and head to the Stockyards for an action-packed rodeo every Friday and Saturday night. And if you check just about every Friday night kids under 12 get in free.
Want even more then head out to the North Texas High School Rodeo arena located at Hwy 820 and Saginaw Blvd. There is a rodeo there every Friday, Saturday and Sunday till May. And it is filled with the talent you will see at future Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo events.
And if rodeo is not what you are up for then head on out to the Stockyards. They have restaurants, shops of every kind, a saddled longhorn that the kids and maybe even you can have your picture taken on. And if you don’t have western gear it doesn’t matter. You should go comfortable and enjoy. As it is the place to just walk up and down Exchange Avenue and enjoy the beginnings of Spring.
