Planning a wedding is already a stressful event, but when you have to change wedding planners weeks before your scheduled ceremony, the stress level intensifies.
Is NeNe being unrealistic in trying to make it all happen in such a short period of time?
It would seem so when she sends evites out to her guest (really NeNe? Ghetto fabulous!) and flying a wedding cake worth $15, 000 first class from New York to Atlanta. Tony, the wedding planner, adds more heat to the boiling pot when he tells her the dream wedding location doesn’t fit into her timeline or budget. So instead of an outdoor wedding she will have to wed in a luxury hotel ballroom instead.
Her energy is super low when she meets with Cynthia Bailey to pick out shoes for the bridesmaids. Cynthia tries to cheer her up about the wedding and the feuding bridesmaids.
“You and Gregg have been through hell and back. And y’all have still come back to each other. You guys deserve this wedding. Do not allow anyone to take this from you guys.”
After this pep talk, NeNe is thrown a monkey wrench when she gets word that her show The New Normal gets cancelled. NeNe fights back tears as she visualizes the steady paychecks disappearing from her bank account.
And clearly she is adding stress on herself by putting all 9 bridesmaids in a van together to go get Botox treatments. Black folks doing this now? So much for black don’t crack.
Marlo and Diana still don’t get along as evident from the constant eye rolling and snide remarks. Diana forms alliances with Pat, another bridesmaid, by telling her that Marlo calls her Chuckles the Clown. When the ladies get together for a tea party to “spill the tea” - meaning to gossip or air out some grievances - Ms. Diana goes all in. Everyone else seems to be working double time to get along for the sake of NeNe’s wedding. Diana, however, seems to feel threatened by NeNe’s friendships with these ladies.
Is she feeling pressure to compete with NeNe’s celebrity friends? Is she still upset that she’s not the Maid of Honor?
Whatever the case, Diana is clearly driving a wedge between herself and the rest of the wedding party. Diana approaches NeNe asking her to shut down Marlo and the others she feels have been attacking her. NeNe has had enough. “Who died and made you president?” NeNe calls her out for being the one pulling all the ladies apart and how it’s affecting their friendship in the process. She advises Diana to roll with the punches and have fun, especially since they are going to Cancun for the bachelorette party. Diana agrees to work harder to get along with the ladies. Especially since NeNe says, “I’d hate to have to fire you’re a**.”
Now we just have to see if Gregg signed that prenup when he visited his attorney so he can quit mulling over this serious decision with the family dog. Is there really any doubt he will sign? He may be old, but he’s no fool.
