According to John Jantsch, founder of Duct Tape Marketing, " ...most business owners understand the power of testimonials, they don’t always know the best way to acquire them." Isn't that the truth!
Most business owners can point to loyal customers who truly believe in the product the business sells. But they are not comfortable asking them to document their positive opinions. I wanted to provide 3 powerful tools that business owners can use to help garner these often hidden testimonials:
- The Written Word - Provide a comment card at the time of checkout or a website for customers to document their positive feedback. Then scan them in for the website or put them in a prominent place in your lobby.
- Sounds Good to Me - Through services like Audio Acrobat (less than $20 per month), you can provide your customers a simple phone number for them to call and leave a voicemail about their experience in doing business with you. You are then provided icons to link to MP3 recordings that look great on a website.
- Testimonial Tube - Invest in a small camcorder or a Flip Video camera to document your customer's reaction right there on the spot. Maybe you host a customer appreciation day at your business and allow happy customers to have their "moment of fame" so you can upload these video to your YouTube channel so you can link to those on your website as well.
These are just 3 practical ways you can go about getting a testimonial from your customer. We use them on our website and I hope you will find them helpful in your business as well. Now get out there and start asking for them!
Have a great week,
Donny Vaughn

Loved this article... short and to the point! Video testimonials are so much more impactful than just reading copy. You can see AND believe what they are saying because it is real! As a testimonial writer, I just wished more local businesses would take advantage of this option and post them all over online, besides just their webpage. There are sites like youtube and adwido that give you free link exchange, video uploads, and even just a simple web page that will link back to your site. Being found in the big worldwide web is everything these days and video testimonials is one of the most powerful tools ever used!
