With expenses for school gear like backpacks and back-to-school clothing for growing children running high, Des Moines area families will be glad to hear about opportunities for them to attend Iowa Cubs games for pennies. This is the time of year when many school supplies can be found for a penny per item -- folders, rulers, etc. With either this or by using my hints for creating a stockpile (done cheaply through stacking coupons, combining coupons with sales, using sales ads to determine your grocery list purchases), the following games can make a very frugal family fun night.
- Sunday, August 21, the Cubs play the Oklahoma City RedHawks at 1:05 p.m. Bringing three canned food items will earn fans a free general admission ticket ($7 adult and $4 child up to three hours before a game; $8 adult and $4 child three hours and less before a game). Kids can also stay after the game and run the bases.
- On Monday, August 22, the Cubs play the Redhawks again, at 7:05 p.m. Bringing three school supply items will earn fans a free general admission ticket. If Reserved Grandstand seats are desired, bring a grocery store receipt from Fareway and get a 2-for-1 ticket deal. ($10 adult and $6 child up to three hours before a game; $11 adult and $6 child three hours and less before a game)
- Next Monday, August 29, the Cubbies play the Nashville Sounds at 6:35 p.m. General admission tickets will be $1, inflatable games and concession items will also cost $1. This is also a Fareway 2-for-1 Reserved Grandstand ticket night -- bring a receipt from Fareway to get the special pricing.
