I Am Bruce Lee Opening in Select Theaters Around San Diego County

The new documentary, I Am Bruce Lee, chronicling the life of martial arts legend and film star Bruce Lee opens in limited release today and next Wednesday, February 15th. Exclusive San Diego exhibitors for the two day special engagement include Ultrastar Poway Cinemas, Ultrastar Mission Valley, Krikorian MetroPlex 15 at Vista Village, and UltraStar Oceanside Mission Marketplace Cinemas.

I Am Bruce Lee, produced by Lee's daughter Shannon, includes rare photos, home movie footage, film clips and video interviews with Bruce's friends, students, fans and associates who offer personal stories and perspectives on Lee's contribution to the worlds of martial arts and cinema. Contemporary sports, movie, and pop culture personalities including Kobe Bryant, UFC President Dana White, Manny Pacquiao, and Mickey Rourke, as well as Lee's widow Linda Lee Cadwell, also appear in the film.

Considered the greatest martial artist of all time (and named by Time Magazine as one of the most important people of the 20th Century) Bruce Lee's formal training was in Wing Chun kung fu. He later developed his own style, Jeet Kune Do, which represented an eclectic approach to martial arts that emphasized practicality and efficiency over form.

Prior to his death at the age of thirty-two, Lee trained and taught martial arts at schools he opened in Seattle and Oakland. He also offered one on one instruction to celebrities like Steve McQueen, James Coburn, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

I am Bruce Lee spans the entirety of Bruce's life, from his early years in Hong Kong, his days in Washington and California's Bay Area, and his acting years in Los Angeles. The film's exclusive engagement is scheduled to end on February 15th. Call theaters for showtimes.
