Coming in February is a film that documents the life of martial arts legend, Bruce Lee. He is mainly known for the many hit films attached to his name, including The Big Boss, Fist of Fury and probably his most famous, Enter the Dragon.
Monroe residents can catch 'I am Bruce Lee' at Cinemark Cinema 10, located in the Pecanland Mall at 4700 Millhaven Rd. in Monroe, or at Cinemark Tinseltown, 220 Blanchard St. in West Monroe.
Lee is also remembered for pioneering the formless 'style' of martial arts known as Jeet Kune Do, by his description a style that is designed to simply keep that which works in any fight and discard that which doesn't. It doesn't adhere to any strict formal arrangement or sets like many other martial arts styles. This unpredictability and formless is a big part of the reason the star was so electrifying to watch onscreen.
The film intersperses live footage of the star from interviews and his films with other interviews by such varying stars as Kobe Bryant, UFC president Dana White, Richard Bustillo, who actually trained and studied under the tutelage of Lee himself. The movie looks to be a fascinating look into the life of one of the most influential martial artists the world has ever seen.
I am Bruce Lee opens in limited engagement on February 9th & 15th.
