The I-55 bank robber has turned himself in after allegedly hitting up 10 banks where his bank robbing attempts were successful. He is also suspected of two other bank robbery attempts that didn't pan out for him along the I-55 corridor, according to the Charleston Daily Mail on Sept. 12.
Andrew Maberry, 19, of Fallon Illinois, was dubbed the I-55 bank robber by police because the banks he hits are along Interstate-55. Maberry turned himself into the FBI the day after they started a “wanted campaign” for his capture.
It is not known how much money the 10 successful heists netted the I-55 bank robber, as FBI has not released those figures. The FBI released the above photos of Maberry, who robbed banks in several states including West Virginia, Maryland, Missouri, Illinois and Tennessee.
The I-55 bank robber’s M.O. was handing the teller a note and implying that he was armed. No one was hurt during the robberies, but he left an awful lot of frightened bank staff and customers in his wake.
