An I-40 crash left at least eight people dead. On Oct. 2, The Inquisitr reported that an accident involving a bus and a tractor trailer occurred around 2 p.m. in Tennessee. Several of the fatalities were passengers traveling on the bus. Both lanes on the highway are closed and won't be reopened until the area is clear and police have finished their on-site investigation.
"[The bus] traveled across the median and struck a tractor-trailer and passenger car that were traveling westbound. The tractor-trailer caught fire and the bus overturned. There are multiple fatalities and injuries at this time," said Tennessee Department of Safety spokeswoman Dalya Qualls.
The I-40 crash caused several injuries. Some people were transported to nearby hospitals by ambulance while others were taken by helicopter. Several emergency vehicles were seen all over the highway and the aerial shot (above) was quite the sight to see. People on the highway had no choice but to sit in traffic, many of them watching as all of the emergency vehicles flew by.
There will be a press conference sometime this afternoon to update folks on the situation. It is unknown if that death toll is expected to rise but it has been reported that at least eight people were killed in this multi-vehicle accident.
Updates on the I-40 crash should become available shortly.
