The weekly magazine Famitsu released earlier today and with it came the news that several members from the cast of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be playable in the upcoming Hyrule Warriors game for the Wii U.
Two of the sages from Ocarina of Time, Ruto the Zora and Darunia the Goron, will be playable characters for the first time since their debut back in 1998. It will also be the first time that a Goron and Zora will be fully playable characters, though Link took the form of the two species in Majora's Mask.
These two character choices seem to be perfect for the hack and slash adventure that is Hyrule Warriors. As we saw way back in Majora's Mask, spinning around as a Goron can do quite a bit of destruction. The Zora on the other hand was more of a water based fighter, so it will be interesting to see what the development team decides to do with Ruto.
Now the third Ocarina of Time alumna will be Sheik, who for the few people that haven't played the game, is the alter-ego of Princess Zelda. Sheik of course has been featured prominently as a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. series and it appears that she will continue to get shown some love.
With Sheik already having a ton of history with Smash Bros. it shouldn't be too hard to see what she will do in Hyrule Warriors. She could have a cavalcade of weapons much like the ones she uses in Smash, and with them she could certainly do some damage.
The addition of these three brings the total number of playable characters up to 10. Ruto, Darunia and Sheik will join Link, Zelda, Impa, Midna, Lana, Fi and Agitha. Hyrule Warriors will be released in North America on September 26.
