After being successfully funded and reaching many of its stretch goals, the “Hyper Light Drifter” Kickstarter today reached its $220,000 stretch goal for a PlayStation 4 and PS Vita version of the game.
Inspired by the 8-bit and 16-bit era in gaming, “Hyper Light Drifter” is a 2D action RPG that follows a “Drifter” collecting lost knowledge and searching for a cure to his illness. The game’s developers, Heart Machine, described the gameplay of their Kickstarter project as the “best parts” of “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past” and “Diablo,” with difficulty being easy to pick up, but hard to master. Previous stretch goals for “Hyper Light Drifter” included new game plus, Co-Op gameplay, and additional cutscenes. Only two stretch goals remain for “Hyper Light Drifter”: challenge mode at $250,000 and a secret goal at $300,000.
There are 24 days left in the “Hyper Light Drifter” Kickstarter. Along with a PS4 and PS Vita ports, the game will launch DRM-free on PC, Mac, and Linux. A slideshow of “Hyper Light Drifter” is posted above.
