Phones today help us with many parts of our lives. They go with us everywhere. If they are damaged due to rain or a drop in a puddle or another pool of water, the device we rely on become useless for sometime. The Hydro ELITE by Kyocera is a new waterproof phone available on Verizon for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
The Hydro ELITE by Kyocera is a global-ready 4G LTE Android smartphone. The device comes with a 4.3-inch HD display, which is about middle of the road in size for smartphones today. The device offers protection from blowing rain and immersion in up to one meter of water (3.28 ft.) for as long as 30 minutes.
The Hydro ELITE makes some changes to standard smartphone features including an easy-to-use “Starter Mode” user interface, with features like a tap-based menu, large fonts, and large intuitive graphics. Kyocera also replaced the phone’s speaker with Smart Sonic Receiver technology that replaces the phone’s speaker and transmits sounds as vibrations, making the phone audible even in the noisiest environments.
The Hydro ELITE has some nice features that allow it to keep pace with newer phones. The Hydro ELITE features wireless charging, Touch-and-Send NFC sharing, and power-management software to maximize the phone’s large 2100 mAh battery. The device comes with an 8MP HD camera on the back and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera.
