Hydrating beer, a beer that features electrolytes, will help ward away that hangover the next day. The hydrating beer is from Australia, where folks make some of the world's most famous beers, like Fosters and Castlemaine XXXX, according to The Inquisitr on Aug. 17.
The beer the researchers at Griffith University's Health Institute came up with actually hydrates you instead of dehydrating you.. This Queensland, Australia group of researchers did have to alter the beer just a bit in order for this electrolyte additive work.
That entail taking some of the alcohol out of the beer. The Griffith University's Health Institute team recently modified the ingredients to test the idea of this rehydrating beer. They did this in four different varieties of beer: two commercial, one of average strength and one light brew. One of the things that came out of the test was that the beer's taste did not change, which was what they were aiming for.
"Of the four different beers the subjects consumed, our augmented light beer was by far the most well retained by the body, meaning it was the most effective at rehydrating the subjects," Ben Desbrow, an associate professor who led the study, said in a released statement.
The altered light beer did the best job at hydrating the folks who consumed it. It was one-third more effective at hydrating the subjects than a normal beer. A hangover is caused by a few different factors, but dehydration is considered the main culprit.
These electrolyte laced beers have promise, but it may be a while before this team of beer researchers from Queensland, Australia will get the beer ready for mass production. For now keep your favorite hangover cure nearby after a night of beer consumption.
