Hydrangea Root May Reduce Risk of Kidney Stones

Caucasian males between the ages of 40 and 70 have the highest risk of developing kidney stones. One out of 20 people will develop kidney stones at some point during their life. For those who have had one kidney stone, chances are higher of having another one. Hydrangea Root, as well as other natural remedies, may reduce the incidence of these painful stones.

Causes of Kidney Stones

Excess Minerals: Kidney stones form when excessive minerals such calcium builds up. The most common stones are formed from calcium, phosphate and uric acid. Dietary modifications may be helpful to decrease the risk of stone formation.

Lack of Fluids: A state of dehydration provides the perfect environment for kidney stones to form. Therefore, drinking plenty of pure water throughout the day and especially after a rigorous workout is essential.

Other Causes: Hereditary factors play a significant role in increasing an individual’s likelihood of having kidney stones. In addition, certain medical conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, among others may increase risk.

Natural Remedies for Reducing Risk Factors

Hydrangea Root: Cherokee Indians have used this remedy for hundreds of years for eliminating “gravel” in the urine. Hydrangea Root is a useful medicinal herb. This product can be purchased at most natural foods stores including, Earth Fare  and Whole-Foods.

Drink plenty of pure water daily.  For those with a history of kidney stones, distilled water is suggested.


Lemon Juice and Apple Cider Vinegar:
  First thing each morning, drink eight ounces of warm water with fresh squeezed lemon juice (about half of a lemon). Alternatively, drink eight ounces of warm water with 1 to 2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar.

Fresh Pressed Cucumber Juice. Cucumber juice is one of the most effective, natural diuretics known. Use organic cucumbers and juice the entire cucumber including the peel. For readers with high blood pressure or those on blood pressure reducing drugs, cucumbers are known for reduce blood pressure.
