One of the largest hotels in the Twin Cities, the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis began a $25 million renovation last month, with completion expected in May 2012. The renovation of the convention hotel will include upgrades to the guestroom’s, suites, public areas and restaurants. The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis is the perfect stop for your business travel.
The renovations will transform the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis using locally sourced construction elements and textiles and integrating local trade and crafts into the design. The lobby and guest rooms will honor the Nordic influences of Minnesota with its Scandinavian design. The highlight of the lobby will be an expansive stone fireplace surrounded by a sunken-living room.
Individual reception pods will also be included in the check-in area. The renovation includes new food and beverage options including a 360-degree lobby bar, with drinks served by the fireplace overlooking the Nicollet Mall. The name and menu details for the upscale three-meal restaurant has yet to be announced.
The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis’ renovated 533 guestrooms and suites features a color scheme with soothing indigos, cool grays and warm gold tones. Each room includes a Hyatt Grand Bed with leather headboards, luxurious linens and window coverings, soft wool throws, and plush navy blue carpeting. New living room furniture consists of high-end leather chairs and modern walnut desks. “Green” wastebaskets in each guestroom have built-in recycling compartments. Original artwork is displayed in the guestrooms including images by local artist Matt Ollig of the iconic Gold Medal Flour building overlooking the Mississippi River, amongst others.
