Hy-Vee, Inc., has recalled certain bags of Hy-Vee dog food due to elevated levels of aflatoxin contamination. The recalled products were distributed to Hy-Vee stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin between October 26, 2012 and January 11, 2013.
Aflatoxin is a naturally-occurring toxic chemical by-product from the growth of the fungus Aspergillus flavus on corn and other crops. If your pet shows any symptoms of illness, including sluggishness or lethargy combined with a reluctance to eat, yellowish tint to the eyes and/or gums, and severe or bloody diarrhea, please contact your veterinarian immediately.
The recalled products are not a health hazard to humans who might handle it.

Consumers with the recalled products can return them to the Hy-Vee store where purchased for a full refund.
