Husson holds off Keene State for 4-2 baseball victory

Shawn Smith had three hits and two RBI to lead the Husson Eagles offense on Thursday afternoon.

Smith also pitched the ninth inning to earn the save in the Eagles 4-2 victory over Keene State at Avon Park, Florida.

Dennis O'Neil allowed seven hits, one walk and two hits in eight innings on the mound for the Eagles. O'Neil struck out four.

The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Smith hit a first inning double that scored Pat Thibodeau.

Husson (2-3) scored three more runs in the third inning. Smith hit a run scoring single. Jordan Carter smacked a two run single with the bases loaded.

The Eagles will finish their Florida trip with a doubleheader Friday afternoon with a doubleheader against St. Norbert.
