The Huskies (5-5-1 overall) jumped out in the opening half, controlling the play and outshooting USC 7-4. But with less than a minute left in the half, the Dawgs had nothing to show for their hard work.
The final minute of the half proved key for the Huskies. With 37 seconds remaining, Christina Archer fed Allie Beahan, who beat USC keeper Caroline Stanley with a shot to the right corner for her second goal of the season, giving Washington a 1-0 halftime advantage.
The Dawgs made their lone goal hold up, holding off the Trojans in the second half. USC outshot the Dawgs 7-2 in the second half, but Washington keeper Megan Kufeld handled everything, picking up her fifth shutout and win of the season.
The Huskies will remain in Los Angeles to take on the UCLA Bruins on Monday night.
