Despite outplaying the Broncos (2-1) for most of the game, the Huskies were unable to beat Boise State keeper Maddy McDevitt. McDevitt made six saves to pick up her first shutout of the season.
After some early pressure by Washington, Boise State turned the tables on the Dawgs in the seventh minute as Brooke Heidemann snuck a shot just past Washington goalie Megan Kufeld. The goal was Heidmann’s first of the season and Kelli Drobney picked up an assist on the goal.
The Dawgs outshot Boise State 13-10, including 8-5 in the second half, but could never get the equalizer. The Huskies had eight corner kicks in the second half and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks for the game. Lindsay Elston led Washington with four shots, while Chelsea Archer and Allie Beahan each had two shots.
With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 1-3 on the season. The Dawgs take on Wake Forest on Friday in the Nike Portland Invitational.
