After a rather cautious opening 45 minutes resulted in a scoreless opening half, play opened up in the second half. The Huskies found a key to the Utes defense in the 55th minute on a magnificent strike by Havana McElvaine, her first goal of the season. The Dawgs swung a corner kick in, which was cleared to McElvaine who drilled it past Utah keeper Lindsey Luke from 35 yards out.
Utah pushed back in the final ten minutes with a flurry of shots, but the Dawgs held on for the big conference win. After just recording two shots in the first half, the Utes registered eight shots in the second 45 minutes.
Washington outshot Utah 15-10 with nine shots on goal. Huskies keeper Megan Kufeld made five saves in picking up her sixth shutout of the season.
Lindsay Elston led the Huskies with seven shots, four of them on goal.
The Dawgs improved to 6-5-2 overall and 2-0-2 in Pac-12 play.
