Ok so apparently the 3rd Saturday of April (tomorrow) is Husband Appreciation Day. What? Really? My first question after hearing this was when is Wife Appreciation Day? I googled it and it’s in September so rest easy ladies, we have a made up holiday too. Who comes up with these things? Probably the same person that created Sweetest Day and all those other annoying pretend “holidays.” I’ve yet to find an origin for Husband Appreciation day but it does appear in several online posts so eh…I guess that makes it real right?
Anyway, it’s not that I don’t think there should be a “Husband Appreciation Day.” I think it’s great actually because you can’t really count “Father’s Day” because not all husbands are fathers. I just don’t think Hallmark has caught on yet and so the world has no idea what they’re missing out on. Sorry husbands, I’ll try to spread the word.
So will I let my husband know about this little known holiday in his honor? Hmmm…well I suppose I will. I truly appreciate my husband but perhaps don’t tell him enough so this is a perfect excuse to celebrate the man I married. I guess that means that the hubby should put up his feet tomorrow, relax and maybe we’ll even go take in a movie in Nashville. It is his day after all and I’ll let him get right on that…well, maybe I’ll tell him all of this AFTER he mows the lawn.
Husbands, we appreciate you:
- Taking out the trash
- Putting your socks and underwear in the dirty clothes basket instead of in the floor
- Putting the toilet seat down
- Killing spiders and other scary insects
- Repairing our home and car when needed
- Doing the yard work
- Putting up with us
- Loving us
Yes, you are appreciated and if we don’t tell you enough, well tomorrow is a great day to start (or today for that matter!)
