Jhon Kennedy Hurtado was a finalist for 2009 Major League Soccer Defender of the Year. It is a credit to Jeff Parke that Seattle didn't miss Hurtado even more than they did after his 2010 injury brought his season to an abrupt end.
Now Sounders fans are imagining a central defense with both Parke and Hurtado, and liking the possibility. Patrick Ianni would be a strong third, and first off the bench in central defense.
Today SoundersFC.com uploaded an interview with Hurtado to YouTube. See the video at left.
"El Presdente" joins Brad Evans as injured key players working for a return to the pitch in 2011. In the TNT Hurtado recently said “It’s a good thing to have a lot of good players and have depth on the team. Everyone is here supporting each other, and everyone brings different things to the table. It’s always better to have more good players surrounding yourself."
Today at SounderatHeart.com Bryan Floyd talks with Jeff Parke about Hurtado's comeback. "I haven't played with him so I don't know exactly how he plays. I know he's physical and strong and can mark a guy out of the game. With that kind of quality and his talent it shouldn't be hard to get used to playing with him."
