Carolina Hurricanes split their first two homes games of the 2013 – 14 season. After an overtime loss against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, they came out strong against Philadelphia. Several new faces are already building confidence with the fans.
ANTON KHUDOBIN had a solid performance in goal as his defensemen provided the needed support.
RADEK DVORAK proved him self with a rocket blast shot, which became the game winning goal. JAY HARRISON posted the first goal early to help build confidence for the Canes. A very similar performance to last season with low scoring, but with solid play from the defense coach Kirk Muller is please with the chemistry so far this season.
The Canes currently find themselves tied for second place in the new Metropolitan division. Joining ranks with some of NHL’s toughest teams, so far the new division has been a good landing spot.
Hurricanes owners find the new home to be a winner also. Rotating the NHL’s premier teams to Raleigh will boost ticket sales and provide more league visibility for the organization.
After a good home performance the Hurricanes head up the road for a show down with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. This will be an early test for the new mix of skaters as the Penguins currently hold first place in the division.
