Hurricane Earl's projected path and tracking has this mega storm coming dangerously close to Rhode Island and Massachusetts, especially to Cape Cod and the islands where hurricane force winds are predicted to lash the area. Although most inland areas near Providence, Rhode Island will escape the brunt of the hurricane, if the storm veers off even a little to the west, the forecast may change.

The Providence Journal and Rhode Island Broadcasters Association (RIBA) today updated a list of school closings and early dismissals around the Providence RI area. Just days after school started back up again, and a day before the kids have a day off with Labor Day weekend, the threat of Hurricane Earl has most RI schools are either closed, or sending the kids home early.
