The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library will present a free screening of Ernst Lubitsch’s classic comedy, “Ninotchka” (1939), on Monday, February 13, 2012, at 6 p.m. The film is the second in a series of classic screwball comedies being shown at the library through March 19.
“Ninotchka” stars Greta Garbo as a loyal Russian official who finds her perspective challenged by the luxury and romance of Paris. Melvyn Douglas, Sig Ruman, Felix Bressart, and Bela Lugosi also star. “Ninotchka” earned four Oscar nominations, squaring off against legendary films like “Gone with the Wind,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Dark Victory” in the greatest year in Hollywood history.
The film will be presented at the main branch of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library, located at 915 Monroe St. near downtown Huntsville. Call 256-532-5940 or visit the library’s website for more information.
