Huntsman and media conspire to discredit Ron Paul

In yet another attempt to discredit Ron Paul with lies and phony smear tactics, the establishment and its media have again been caught red-handed, this time in coordination with the Jon Huntsman Campaign, conspiring to unjustly demonize Ron Paul and marginalize his campaign.

Although dirty tricks are not uncommon in politics, especially during election season, the national media and the Huntsman campaign have taken deception to a new level. A story that broke Friday with Examiner.com’s, Angel Clark pointed to startling facts that lead to an obvious conspiracy by the Huntsman campaign to paint Ron Paul a racist by posing as a Ron Paul supporter who uploaded a youtube video to a channel conveniently named, ”NHLiberty4Paul,” attacking Huntsman for having anti-American values, simply for being able to speak Chinese and for having adopted Chinese children.

In addition to the facts pointed out in the damning Examiner article, the video uses a common establishment media theme that attempts to denigrate Ron Paul and his supporters as “conspiracy theorists.” The video is cleverly worded with introductory terms like, “The Manchurian Candidate, what’s he hiding,” in order to subconsciously solidify the Ron Paul supporter effect, especially to those who mainly get their news from “mainstream” media sources and may not know the real Ron Paul.

As the article points out however, and what may be the most glaring of all the facts, although it’s unsure as to whether or not the video was actually made by a member of the Huntsman staff or a member of the national media, not only is the video seemingly made with expertise that is usually befitting someone with professional video editing equipment and experience, but also because the video was uploaded to a youtube channel that was opened the very same day the Huntsman team embedded the video to its official campaign website, with the icing being the fact that they were also the first to post the video, according to youtube’s own official statistics.

What may be the most startling aspect of the situation however isn’t necessarily that fact that a political team turned to dirty tactics to steal votes or discredit a political opponent, but the fact that the national media also ran with this story, almost as fast as the Huntsman team posted the brand new channel’s only video to its official website. Immediately after the Huntsman campaign posted the video the national media started to make a spectacle out of the situation, almost as if it were a scripted event.

Since the initial story broke it’s been used as a political tool against Ron Paul and his supporters in an ongoing effort to demonize his credibility in the eyes of the American people. Horrifyingly, the corporate media in general is once again proving to be a completely one-sided and bias operation that attempts to marginalize anyone who questions the establishment’s overall agenda, a.k.a., “the status quo.”

MSNBC mistakenly asked Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Senior Advisor, Doug Wead to comment about the situation in an interview on Saturday’s program, “Weekends with Alex Witt,” where he gave them a piece of his mind regarding the media’s use of the video stating, “We expect NBC, we expect you to do your job to find out who it is. We don’t know who it is. You say it’s one of our supporters, but we don’t know that.”

Immediately following his comments was a typical pre-scripted media talking point where the host argued that “it must be a Ron Paul supporter because of the name of the youtube channel.” Which is when Mr. Wead began sarcastically chuckling at the notion they’d try to use that as proof it was a Ron Paul supporter, and while laughing replied, “I’ve been in 7 different presidential campaigns, and if you can find out who put that up we will tell them to take that off right away.”

As shocking as this situation may ultimately be, what may be even more unnerving is the fact that the media has stooped so low as to use a non-campaign related video, even if it were made by someone who claims to be a supporter, as a tool to marginalize someone’s attempt to become President, as if it’s the media’s job to decide who gets to be elected or not.

As much as his supporters may be responsible for whether or not he gets elected, it's extremely concerning watching the media childishly act as if Ron Paul is responsible for his supporters and using one of those alleged supporters against him.
