On Moxahala and Putnam Avenues, strange things to seem to happen often. Local residents have witnessed ghosts of soldiers walking through their neighborhood at night. Other people have reported seeing the ghosts of slaves. A lot of people that live nearby say that the whole area is haunted.
History
Zanesville was Ohio's second city capital from 1810 to 1812. During the Civil War, over 5,000 Union soldiers were stationed in the city. US 40, the National Road also travels through the town.
Haunted History
On Moxahala and Putnam Avenues, ghosts of Civil War soldiers and escaped slaves are often seen wandering the neighborhood in the evening. Witnesses have seen odd lights and fleeting shadows near the VFW.
Location
The VFW is located at 600 Moxahala Avenue, in Zanesville, Ohio.
