Hunting the haunted: Akron's Perkins Stone Mansion

The Perkins Stone Mansion is home to numerous spirits. Many of the tour guides and curators have witnessed the supernatural residents firsthand. Dishes crash in the kitchen and a rocking chair rocks on its own in the historic haunted house.

History
The Perkins Stone Mansion was built in 1837 for Colonel Simon Perkins and his family. Colonel Perkins was the son of Akron's founder, General Simon Perkins. The Perkins' owned the estate until the Summit County Historical Society purchased it in 1945.

The Summit County Historical Society offices are located on the estate and the organization offers guided tours of the historic mansion from April through December.

Haunted History
Staff of the Summit County Historical Society, past and present, believe that the mansion and its grounds are haunted. Various ghosts have been witnessed inside and out of the house.

Location
The Perkins Stone Mansion is located at 550 Copley Road, in Akron, Ohio.
