Hunter Valley Farm is located off South Northshore Drive in West Knoxville. After passing through the wide entrance gates the property is just overwhelming. You can almost sense the 57 acres of juicy green and the many miles of trails and lake views. If something like stable Feng-Shui exists, the ones at Hunter Valley Farm would be the best example for a positive ch’i. They offer plenty of day light, are well maintained and the horses couldn’t be healthier or happier. When walking through the corridor you just want to take your time, smile at the staff and enjoy the atmosphere.
After a hearty welcome, the owner and experienced professional Becky Thornton will first examine your skills for half an hour in the riding arena and advise what kind of lessons will suit you best. Becky is both, an adorable person and a tough trainer. No matter if you just want to learn how to be competent in the sattle or if you want to get going in competitions, she will help you achieve your goal in no time. Most important, you cannot help but love the horses. They are excellent trained and just pure fun to work with no matter if you are in the arena or on the trail.
Both, private and group lessons are available. The latter are usually cheaper (65$ vs. 50$). All the quality as described above does cost a little extra and the price is the only downside of this place. Considering the progress I made just in a few weeks of training, I’d say: It works, it’s fun and definitely worth it.
Add on: Being such a beautiful location, Hunter Valley Farm is also renting out a huge lake view pavilion for events such as wedding ceremonies.
