Rising star Hunter Hayes stopped by The Ellen Degeneres Show on Friday (March 21) to perform his brand new single "Invisible." Lifted from his upcoming Storyline album (out May 6), the singer-songwriter took the piano to deliver the emotionally charged ballad.
Midway through the performance, he rose from the bench and took to the mic. He poured his heart into the self-penned lyrics, an autobiographical story about his high school past. Amidst so many hip-hop country songs by his peers, Hayes offers up a more organic story, going against the radio grain.
Hayes co-wrote every song on his new album and co-produced the record, alongside industry tastemaker Dan Huff. Legendary steel guitarist Paul Franklin makes an appearance on the album, as well as Hayes' touring band.
For each "Invisible" digital download, a monetary equivalent will benefit ConAgra Foods' Child Hunger Ends Here campaign, of up to one million meals.
Hayes' We Are Not Invisible Tour officially kicked off last night in Pikeville, Ky. and continues through the end of May. The Voice season four winner Danielle Bradbery ("The Heart Of Dixie") and duo Dan + Shay ("19 You + Me") are the special guests.
