Hunter Hayes joins The Flaming Lips to break a Guinness World Record (Photos)

Hot-country newcomer Hunter Hayes will team with The Flaming Lips in the act's quest to break the Guinness World Records title for the "Most Live Concerts In 24 Hours (Multiple Cities)" beginning at 7:30 a.m. (ET) Thursday, June 28.

Hayes and The Flaming Lips will undertake their collective quest during the groundbreaking and Webby Award-winning O Music Awards, live at Benny’s Boom Boom Room in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Per a report from ACM nominee Hayes' PR camp, he's one of several emerging artists invited to join The Flaming Lips during a 24-hour whirlwind tour that starts in Memphis, Tenn., and will end in New Orleans.

Music fans can tune in online June 28 at 7:30 a.m. (ET) to watch Hayes’ performance streaming live on OMusicAwards.com and accessible on all platforms including mobile and tablets. The performances will be streamed live and videos on demand, or VODs, will go live afterward on CMT.com.

A native of Breaux Bridge, La., the 20-year-old Hayes has co-inked tunes for Rascal Flatts and Montgomery Gentry, as well as shared the stage with Trace Adkins, Lady Antebellum, Hank Williams Jr., Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban, to name a sampling.

As a solo artist, the Hayes reportedly is the lone debut artist of 2011 to play every instrument, write/co-write every song and co-produce his critically acclaimed self-titled debut CD. He recently announced plans to tour with Carrie Underwood this fall on her 2012 Blown Away Tour.
