Hunter Hayes honored for writing #1 songs

Hunter Hayes is about to release his new album “Invisible,” but he’s still riding the high of the success of his self-titled, first studio album. Country Weekly reported on February 4 that Hunter Hayes was among fifteen songwriters who were honored at the CMA Triple Play Awards in Nashville for writing at least three #1 hits in the last year. For Hunter Hayes, all three of his #1 songs appeared on his first album.

The winning songs, “Wanted” and “Somebody’s Heartbreak” were on Hunter Hayes’ standard edition album and “I Want Crazy” appeared on the Encore edition. In addition to becoming a #1 song, “Wanted” picked up multiple industry awards including Single By A New Artist and Music Video By A New Artist by the American Country Awards and also Song of the Year at the BMI Awards last November. “Somebody’s Heartbreak” and “I Want Crazy” have also been nominated for several awards.

In fact, Hunter Hayes has been on quite a whirlwind since his debut at the end of 2011. So far, he hasn’t had a single song that didn’t end up in the top 20, he has toured with Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, and he has performed with musical greats such as Stevie Wonder. And, if anyone thought his first album was a success, Hunter Hayes’ yet-untitled, upcoming album looks like it’s going to be blazing a trail of its own.

Hunter Hayes debuted the first single, “Invisible” at the 2014 GRAMMY Awards and received rave reviews afterward. In its first week, the single was labeled a “hot shot debut” on Billboard’s Hot Country Chart, coming in at #23.
