Throngs of fans were lined up in front of Vancouver's Canada Place today hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite Bollywood stars. Inside music mega stars including Hard Kaur, and Abbas Hassan chatted with members of the press. The hunky Abbas was one of the last stars to enter the press room for interviews. He strode into the room smiling , wearing shades a leather jacket and jeans. One look and you see the star appeal dripping from him, and when he began to talk his warm personality made him even more attractive.
Although he is one of Bollywoods biggest stars, he seems totally unaffected and down to earth. He is loving his visit to Vancouver saying "it's beautiful here". The star says he's excited about performing for all his fans this week at the Pacific Coliseum. He is more than just a singer, he also writes his own songs and can play guitar.
Which comes first when song writing.. the words or the melody? "Each song is a journey" says Abbas adding "some begin with a melody and some begin with the lyrics". He also plays guitar but says jokingly he doesn't like to "brag about it".
Which north american music stars would he love to perform with? "I love unusual styles....I would have loved to perform with Michael Jackson... or David Bowie or Madonna" says Abbas. He was recently signed by Rishi Rich and is very excited about what the future holds for his music career. His new single "Away" features a music video with Bollywood actress Humaima Malick.
With his good looks it's no surprise he was chosen "Asian Woman's Magazine's Man of the Year, and that he's playing the lead in Mazhavillinattam Vare (translated means Till the End of the Rainbow``). The film follows the story of the life-changing journey of a young Pakistani cricketer played by Abbas. Not an avid cricket player Abbas was coached by a pro, and reportedly has caught on the the sport very well.
Is there anybody special in his life? Abbas says "No there's no time for romance" with all his "touring and busy schedule " You can see Abbas live at the Times of India Awards this week in Vancouver.
